Is Drinking Water First Thing in the Morning Beneficial?

Brad Sigmon, 67, is set to be executed by firing squad tonight, marking South Carolina’s first execution of this kind. Sigmon, on death row for over 20 years, pleaded for clemency, hoping for Governor Henry McMaster’s intervention.

Sentenced in 2002, Sigmon was convicted of murdering David and Gladys Larke, his ex-girlfriend’s parents. Court records state he “beat them to death with a baseball bat” and kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, Rebecca Barbre, who later escaped.

His legal team called the firing squad “cruel and unusual punishment,” but South Carolina law allows it due to the lack of lethal injection drugs.

Amnesty International condemned the execution as “a grave injustice.”

With no intervention announced, Sigmon’s fate remains uncertain as time runs out.
