Ash Putnam, known as ashxobrien on TikTok, shared her frustration after TJ Maxx rejected her job application. “I applied… and they denied my application,” she said in a viral clip with over 7 million views. “They couldn’t even call me. They just sent me some automated email.”
Curious about the decision, Putnam, who has visible face and body tattoos along with facial piercings, confronted the hiring manager. “I was like, ‘What was the reason I didn’t get hired?’ And she was like, ‘Oh, you just don’t have enough experience.’”
Putnam then asked if her tattoos played a role in the decision. “Obviously, a lot of places don’t like tattoos,” she noted. However, the manager denied this was a factor.
Skeptical, she concluded, “I don’t feel like that’s true, but whatever. I’ll leave it at that.”
