A woman who paid $161,000 to extend her legs by 5.5 inches says she’s been left with “huge regrets.”
Theresia Fischer, a German influencer and former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, underwent leg-lengthening surgery at 24. She originally stood at 5ft 6 but now measures over 6ft. “I am ashamed because I consented to an operation that shouldn’t have had,” Fischer said, adding, “I’ve never dealt with that before because I’ve always been happy with my body.”
The complex procedure involved inserting telescopic rods into her shins to slowly lengthen the bones. While often used for medical reasons, it carries risks. Professor Hamish Simpson told the BBC, “The procedure remains an extremely complex process, with a high complication rate.”
Fischer claims an ex-boyfriend pushed her into it. In an interview, she recalled him saying, “‘Theresia, you know I like big ladies… You could get up to 14 centimeters more.’” After constant pressure, she agreed, later realizing the emotional toll.
She’s now battling periosteum inflammation and complications with her fibula. Fischer quit a reality TV show, saying, “When I had to run a little or be faster – it’s just strange to run with metal in your legs.” Now, she longs for the day the metal rods can be removed.
