Boy, 10, Dies After Foster Mother Sits on Him
A 10-year-old boy, Dakota Levi Stevens, died after his 24-stone foster mother, Jennifer Lee Wilson, allegedly sat on him for misbehaving. Wilson, 48, has been charged with reckless homicide in Berrien County, Michigan.
She told police Dakota threw himself on the ground, so she “sat on the boy for around five minutes” while on the phone with his caseworker. When he stopped moving, she assumed he was “pretending.”
Paramedics found Dakota unresponsive. He was airlifted to a hospital but died two days later. An autopsy revealed “catastrophic injuries,” with the cause of death listed as mechanical asphyxia.
