A British man was sentenced to prison after raping a sleeping woman and learning he may have contracted HIV from his victim.
Richard Thomas, 27, broke into the woman’s home and assaulted her while she slept. According to the BBC, “Thomas said he knew the woman was ill but did not know it could be HIV.”
He was later informed about her condition and reportedly “collapsed when told the news.”
Thomas was sentenced to five years and four months in prison.
