Federal Spending Hits Record High Despite Musk’s DOGE Cuts
Despite Elon Musk’s claims that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is saving “$4 billion a day,” federal spending hit a record $603 billion in February 2025, according to the Financial Times.
Musk aimed for “$1 trillion in savings,” but DOGE’s reported cuts have only reached $115 billion. Economic policy expert Jessica Riedl noted, “DOGE savings are so small as not to be identifiable in monthly spending totals.”
With spending up 7% from 2024, concerns grow over rising Social Security and healthcare costs, overshadowing Musk’s alleged budget cuts.
