**Tragic plane crash that claimed the life of famous singer explained.**
A devastating plane crash off the coast of Honduras has claimed 12 lives. The Lanhsa Airlines Jetstream 31 took off from Roatán on Monday night, heading for La Ceiba, but “made a sharp turn to the right of the runway and fell into the water,” according to civil aviation official Carlos Padilla. The crash happened just 0.6 miles from shore.
Local fisherman José Hernández said, “The plane almost fell on us. I was fishing.” Witnesses reported strange noises before the crash, raising concerns about the aircraft’s maintenance. Aviation expert Carlos Ramos explained, “Mechanical failures shortly after takeoff are critical and often leave little room for corrective action.”
Honduran President Xiomara Castro activated an Emergency Operations Committee to coordinate rescue efforts. Roatán, known for its beaches and reefs, suffered a tragic blow to its tourism-dependent community.
Of 17 people onboard, 12 died, including a U.S. national, a French national, two minors, and the renowned Garifuna musician and former congressman, Aurelio Martínez. The U.S. State Department extended “deepest condolences to the victims and to the families of all those affected.”
The cause remains under investigation as authorities search for answers.
