Seventeen-year-old Austin Metcalf was tragically stabbed during a track and field event at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on April 2. Police confirmed the incident involved “an altercation between two students,” resulting in Austin’s death. He was at the event with his twin brother, Hunter.
The suspect, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, allegedly stabbed Austin after a brief dispute over seating. Hunter recalled: “My brother stepped in and said, ‘You need to move.’ And he’s like, ‘Make me move.’” Anthony then pulled out a knife from his bag and fatally stabbed Austin in the chest. Hunter tried to stop the bleeding before emergency help arrived.
Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, shared, “I saw where the wound was… we rushed to the hospital… but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder.” He described Austin as “a leader of men” with a passion for football and a smile that “would light up the room.”
Austin’s final X post, just days before his death, read: “Faith that God got me and my work will pay off.” It has since touched many hearts online.
Karmelo Anthony remains in custody, charged with first-degree murder.
