“The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals,” Air India stated.
India’s Aviation Minister, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, said he was “shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad.”
He added, “We are on highest alert… swift and coordinated action is underway.” Emergency teams have been deployed, and aid is being rushed to the crash site.
Air India Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran said:
“With profound sorrow I confirm that Air India Flight 171… was involved in a tragic accident today.”
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by this devastating event.”
He assured that “everything in our power” is being done to support rescue efforts and help families. An emergency center has been activated, and support teams are assisting relatives of passengers.
