A missing Utah teen, 15-year-old Alisa Petrov, has been found safe after walking into a Colorado Springs police station on June 1—six weeks after vanishing. She had last been seen on April 21, leaving her school in American Fork.
Prior to her disappearance, Petrov messaged 41-year-old Samuel Teancum Mitchell saying, *“I’M RUNNING AWAY. Please don’t contact me.”* Investigators found disturbing messages between them on her iPad, including discussions about sex, condoms, and meeting up.
Police traced Mitchell’s phone and linked him to Petrov’s disappearance, along with two other men—William Taylor Glines and Matthew Nicholas Menard—who are now in custody.
Security footage last showed Petrov leaving a train station in Provo. Her family had offered a \$20,000 reward for help finding her.
Authorities confirmed she was unharmed and in good health. It’s still unclear how she got to Colorado or if she was being held. The South Jordan Police confirmed her recovery in a statement on June 2.
Mitchell was arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation and enticement of a minor.
