An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Las Vegas Wednesday morning after one of its engines started smoking shortly after takeoff.
According to the FAA, smoke began billowing from Flight 1665 just moments after it departed from Harry Reid International Airport. The plane was headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, with 165 passengers onboard. A video captured the aircraft with “dark smoke trailing behind the plane in midair.”
Despite the frightening scene, the flight landed safely back in Las Vegas by 8:20 a.m. and “taxied to the terminal under its own power,” said airport spokesperson Luke Nimmo.
Thankfully, *“no injuries were reported.”*
