Julia Roberts looked nearly unrecognizable while filming *August: Osage County* in Oklahoma. Known for glamorous roles, she transformed into Barbara Weston, wearing loose jeans, layered shirts, and messy brown hair. In one emotional scene, Barbara walks with Bill (Ewan McGregor) to identify a body, eventually breaking down in his arms.

Despite the intensity, Roberts shared laughs between takes with co-stars, including Julianne Nicholson, who “seemed to share something funny with the group.” Nicholson, also dressed plainly, helped capture the film’s raw, unpolished feel.

The movie’s cast includes Meryl Streep as Violet Weston and Benedict Cumberbatch as Little Charles Aiken. Abigail Breslin won the role of Jean Fordham over Chloë Moretz. Juliette Lewis replaced Andrea Riseborough as Karen Weston, and Renée Zellweger was also considered for a role.

Though emotionally demanding, filming included lighter moments, highlighting the cast’s strong bond. Released in 2013, *August: Osage County* is known for its emotional depth and powerful performances.
