Before cancer arrives, hands and feet often have these 4 signs

Unusual changes in your hands and feet may signal underlying health issues, including cancer. While not always cancer-related, these signs shouldn’t be ignored.

“Darkening, redness, or a bluish tint” in the hands or feet can point to skin cancers like melanoma or issues with blood flow.

Persistent swelling may signal cancer spread or side effects from treatment. It could also indicate a blood clot or lymphedema, often linked to certain cancers.

Pain, tingling, or numbness may suggest nerve damage due to cancer or its treatment, especially in cases involving bone, lung, or prostate cancer.

“Thickening, discoloration, or… white or purple streaks” in nails can be signs of cancer. Melanoma might show up as dark lines under the nails, while chemotherapy may cause brittle or ridged nails.

Although these symptoms can have other causes, any unexplained changes should be checked by a doctor. As the article emphasizes, “early detection and intervention can significantly improve outcomes in cancer treatment.”
