Perla Alison, a young girl from Santa Martha Acatitla, went missing after telling her family she was going to the store to buy candy. She never returned home, prompting a nationwide Amber Alert and an extensive search by authorities and citizens.
Her body was later found in an empty lot near the Constitución de 1917 metro station after a neighbor reported a foul smell coming from an abandoned building. According to officials, “the body displayed evidence of violence,” and a femicide investigation has been launched.
Although the official cause of death awaits autopsy results, early findings suggest that Perla may have suffered abuse before her death.
Her case has sparked widespread outrage, especially on social media, where it had already gained attention during the search. One user wrote, “We won’t forget Perla. This has to stop.”
Feminist groups and civil organizations are demanding justice and “exemplary punishment for whoever is found guilty.”
