15 Common Cancer Symptoms You Shouldn’t Ignore

Overlooking minor tasks is often harmless, but ignoring persistent health symptoms can be dangerous—especially when they might signal cancer. “Late detection… can allow the disease to progress, making treatment more challenging,” experts warn. The American Cancer Society projects over 2 million new cancer cases and more than 618,000 deaths in the U.S. in 2025 alone.

Some warning signs may seem harmless but shouldn’t be ignored if they persist:

* **Irregular Spotting**: Light bleeding outside your normal menstrual cycle could be due to stress, hormones, or medications. But “if this spotting occurs repeatedly,” it could point to endometrial cancer and should be checked by a doctor.

* **Ongoing Bloating**: Common causes include PMS or indigestion. However, bloating that lasts more than two weeks—especially with bleeding or unexplained weight loss—might signal ovarian cancer.

* **Testicular Changes**: A new lump, swelling, or discomfort in the testicle could indicate testicular cancer, which can spread quickly. Monthly self-exams are recommended for men ages 15–55.

Though these symptoms can have benign causes, persistence is key. If they continue, don’t delay—see your doctor. Early detection saves lives.
