Amelia, a new mom and skilled seamstress, agrees to help her distant stepsister Jade by sewing six custom bridesmaid dresses. Jade promises to pay well, so Amelia spends \$400 from her baby fund, saying, “I trusted her.” Despite juggling a newborn, Amelia carefully meets every bridesmaid’s request and completes the dresses in time.
When she delivers them, Jade laughs and calls the dresses a “gift,” refusing to pay. Amelia, shocked and heartbroken, stays silent to avoid conflict.
