James Carville said on his *Politics War Room* podcast that Kamala Harris is unlikely to play a role in the 2028 Democratic nomination fight, despite speculation after she declined to run for California governor.
He argued Democrats want to move beyond the 2024 election, where Harris, though widely supported, lost. “Anybody that had anything to do with 2024, the party wants to move on,” Carville explained.
Carville also warned that Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, may face similar limits in national politics. His remarks, he stressed, weren’t personal. He praised Harris’ résumé but said her campaign failed to show voters clear change.
Looking to 2028, Carville noted the Democratic field is already shifting. While opportunities for some may narrow, others are emerging.
Even after her loss to Donald Trump, Harris “remains a prominent Democratic figure,” though her political future may be uncertain.
