Tensions rose in the House when Representative Al Green, a Democrat from Texas, announced plans to introduce articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump. His decision came after Trump suggested the U.S. should seize Gaza and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
Green condemned the remarks as reckless and dangerous, warning of their global implications. He said Trump’s words reflected not only poor judgment but also a troubling influence on international stability.
In his speech, Green declared: “Ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke, especially when it emanates from the President of the United States, the most powerful person in the world.”
He stressed that Trump’s influence makes his rhetoric particularly harmful: “When he has the ability to shape outcomes with his words, it cannot be ignored.”
