Donald Trump accused of shocking ‘power move’ over King Charles with unusual behaviour during rare royal meeting

US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania arrived at Windsor Castle today for Trump’s second state visit to the UK, hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. They were welcomed by Prince William and Kate Middleton before being escorted to the palace.

The group rode in a royal carriage with a military escort, but controversy soon followed when Trump was seen walking ahead of the King during the inspection. Viewers quickly pointed out the breach of protocol, with one writing: “Donald Trump leading the British army and walking in front of the king says it all.” Another added: “Trump leads. Charles submits.”

Some defended Trump, with one supporter claiming: “Once again Trump walks in front of Charles because he is the true King.” Others criticized him, noting: “King Charles is walking behind President Trump while inspecting the guard. That’s not the tradition.”

During his stay, Trump will join Charles and Camilla to inspect the guard of honour, view American-linked items from the Royal Collection, and attend a state lunch. He will also visit St George’s Chapel to lay a wreath at Queen Elizabeth’s tomb before meeting Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for political talks.
