Diane Keaton, Beloved Hollywood Icon, Dies at 79

Diane Keaton, the beloved and trailblazing actress known for her charm, wit, and unique style, has died at 79 in California. With her “floppy hats, sharp suits, and a voice full of warmth and wit,” Keaton became a defining figure in Hollywood for over five decades.

She rose to fame as Kay Adams in The Godfather and achieved stardom with Annie Hall, a role that earned her an Oscar and cemented her status as a fashion icon. Her later performances in The First Wives Club, Something’s Gotta Give, and Book Club showed her continued brilliance, “embracing age and authenticity with effortless grace.”

Born Diane Hall in Los Angeles in 1946, she was the eldest of four children. She adopted her mother’s maiden name, Keaton, as her stage name. Both on and off screen, she remained “unapologetically herself” — an artist celebrated for individuality and authenticity.

Details about her death have not been disclosed, and her family has asked for privacy “as they mourn the loss of one of cinema’s most beloved voices.”
