Dr. Kelly Powers, a respected Fox News medical contributor and surgeon, has died at 45 after a “courageous battle with glioblastoma,” an aggressive brain cancer. She passed away Sunday in New Jersey, according to Holmdel Funeral Home.
Born in Yonkers in 1979, Powers earned degrees from Baruch College, the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, and the University of San Francisco, completing residencies at Georgetown and Boston University. She became a trusted media figure, appearing on Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, and CBS for her “expertise and empathy.”
Her diagnosis came in 2020 after she collapsed during a live Fox segment, describing the experience as “unreal.” Despite three brain surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, she later welcomed her son, Bennett, calling herself “the luckiest unlucky girl.”
When her cancer returned in 2024, friends raised nearly $100,000 for experimental treatment. “She was a brave and beautiful soul,” her obituary reads.
Powers is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, and their son, Bennett. Visitation will be held Thursday, with a funeral Friday at Tower Hill Church in Red Bank, New Jersey. Her legacy of courage and compassion continues to inspire many.
