Every generation has its own humor, and today’s viral phrase “6-7” proves it. The term means nothing at all — and that’s exactly why it’s funny.
The trend began after rapper Skrilla released Doot Doot in December 2024, featuring the lyric, “6-7, I just bipped right on the highway (bip, bip).” The catchy line exploded on TikTok, where users started yelling “6-7” in response to random questions like “what time is it?” or “what’s that smell?”
TikTok creator Mr. Lindsay explained, “It’s just a meme reference. There’s no meaning—it’s fun to say, especially with hand motions.” For many young users, the absurdity is what makes it hilarious.
Teachers, however, are less entertained. Elementary teacher Kaitlyn Biernacki said her students began shouting “six” and “6-7” during math lessons, turning the class into chaos. Some schools even banned the phrase for being too disruptive.
Despite the frustration in classrooms, the meme shows how fast online humor spreads. A single song lyric can turn into a global inside joke almost overnight. And if you don’t get it — that’s the joke. For Gen Z and Gen Alpha, “6-7” is funny precisely because it makes no sense.
