End of an Era: Legendary Actor Dies Peacefully at 98

Hollywood is mourning the loss of beloved comedy legend Ed Williams, who has passed away at 98. Best known for his unforgettable role as the eccentric lab scientist in the hit parody series Police Squad! and The Naked Gun films, he “brought laughter to generations through his timeless performances.”

Born in California in the 1920s, Williams served in the Navy before turning to broadcasting — a career that shaped his impeccable comic timing and storytelling skills. “His early years behind the microphone gave him the sharp wit” that would later define his acting.

Before fame, Williams taught broadcasting at Los Angeles City College, inspiring students with his passion for communication. He also performed in local theater, slowly making his way into television and film.

Fans adored his deadpan humor and quirky inventions on screen. “His perfectly straight-faced delivery and inventive gadgets became fan favorites,” earning him a permanent place in comedy history.

Though he retired years ago, Ed Williams’ warmth, humor, and creativity live on. His legacy “continues to shine through every smile his performances still bring today.”
