Former Fox News anchor Angelynn “Angie” Elizabeth Mock, 47, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, to death on Halloween morning in Wichita, Kansas. Police responded to a “reported cutting” at around 7:52 a.m. and found Avers unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead shortly after. Mock was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, held on a $1 million bond.
According to dispatch audio, a woman claimed she “stabbed her mother to save herself.” Neighbor Alyssa Castro recalled, “There was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood… asking to call 911.” Mock allegedly used Castro’s phone to contact authorities, again stating she acted in self-defense. Police have not confirmed this claim or revealed details about the weapon or possible motive.
Before the tragedy, Mock had a respected media career, anchoring for KOKH FOX 25 in Oklahoma City and KTVI FOX 2 in St. Louis, earning a Heartland Emmy. She later moved into software consulting at Imaging Office Systems.
Now, the once-celebrated journalist faces a dark turn, as investigators continue to determine what led to the fatal confrontation between mother and daughter.
