Everything you need to know about chronic constipation: A hidden threat to your digestive health

Chronic constipation can have dangerous effects if ignored. During digestion, food turns into waste that exits the body as stool. When the process slows down, it causes abdominal pain, bloating, and difficulty passing stool. “Every person experiences constipation at some point in their life, but when it becomes chronic, it can lead to even more serious issues.”

Doctors were shocked by an X-ray showing a woman whose colon, filled with two weeks’ worth of waste, had expanded toward her chest, “close to the heart.” The pressure caused her colon’s natural folds to disappear — a condition that “can easily lead to fatalities if left untreated.”

Chronic constipation weakens the colon’s ability to move stool, allowing toxins to enter the bloodstream and cause “bloating, foul breath, acne, and chronic fatigue.” It can also result in hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or bowel blockage — a life-threatening situation that may require surgery.

Over time, this condition may “increase the risks of colon cancer.”

Prevention includes eating fiber-rich foods, drinking enough water, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy bathroom routine.
