This woman spent years living on the street, collecting bottles just to buy food.

Rita had been living on the streets for years. She was completely alone after losing her only son, surviving by collecting bottles and whatever she could find.

No one would hire her – her appearance closed every door before she even knocked.
Then she met Shafag Novruz, a makeup artist and stylist who works specifically with women who’ve been forgotten by everyone else. Shafag didn’t see a homeless woman; she saw a person who still had fight left in her.

First thing Shafag did was take Rita to the dentist and pay for everything herself. A proper smile changes how the world looks at you, and how you look at yourself.

After that came the full makeover: manicure, pedicure, fresh hair color (something light and warm), extensions to give length and life to hair that had been neglected for years. Small things, done with care.

When Rita finally looked in the mirror, she didn’t recognize the woman staring back. She started crying, then laughing, then both at once. For the first time in forever, she saw someone who looked like she still belonged in the world.

The before-and-after pictures say everything. Same woman, same soul, but now the outside finally matched the strength that had kept her alive all those years.

One act of kindness, a few hours of skilled work, and a life that everyone had written off suddenly had a future again.
