Doctors Reveal the Benefits of Eating Eggs Frequently

Doctors highlight eggs as a valuable food, especially for vegetarians, because they are “a nutrient-rich and versatile food choice that supports both health and beauty.” Eggs are easy to prepare, digest, and fit well into a balanced diet.

Each egg provides “about 6–7 grams of high-quality protein along with all essential amino acids.” Eggs are considered “one of the most complete protein sources available.” The amino acid leucine is especially important, as it “plays a crucial role in muscle growth and repair,” making eggs ideal for active people and those avoiding red meat.

Eggs support liver function due to their choline content. Choline is “necessary for metabolizing fat and preventing its buildup in the liver.” One medium egg supplies “roughly one-quarter to one-third of the recommended daily intake of choline,” helping meet daily nutritional needs.

Egg yolks contain “the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin,” which help protect against “age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.” Regular intake of “three to four boiled or steamed eggs per week” may support long-term eye health.

Eggs also promote fullness and steady energy. For best results, it’s recommended to “choose fresh eggs and avoid frying or consuming them raw.” People with conditions like diabetes or high cholesterol should seek medical advice before increasing egg intake.
