A serious bus accident occurred early Wednesday along Highway 57 in the Hermanas–Sabinas area near kilometer 68. A passenger bus traveling from Ciudad Acuña to Gómez Palacio overturned, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured, “including a child now fighting for his life.”
Among the most critically injured is a minor identified as Jairo, who was “rushed to Clinic 7 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Monclova.” Doctors described his condition as “delicate,” while his family waits anxiously for updates. At least five other passengers were injured, though their conditions vary.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the crash. Investigators remain at the scene, interviewing survivors and collecting evidence to understand how the bus lost control. Families of those involved have arrived at nearby hospitals, searching for information and hoping for positive news.
The region also saw another traffic accident hours earlier. On Tuesday night around 10 p.m., a separate crash occurred on the Gómez Palacio–Cuencamé Highway near Raymundo Park in Lerdo, Durango. A vehicle struck a light pole and a concrete base before overturning. Emergency crews responded quickly, but injuries from that crash are still being assessed.
Together, these incidents have shaken communities in Coahuila and Durango, underscoring the dangers of nighttime highway travel. As investigations continue, families remain on edge, hoping the next update brings relief rather than tragedy.
