A frail-looking Bill Clinton shared a health update on Wednesday, reassuring the public that he plans to be around “for a lot longer” after being hospitalised with sepsis last week.
In a video posted to his official Twitter account, the former president thanked supporters and praised the doctors and nurses at UC Irvine Medical Center for caring for him over seven days of treatment. “I was so touched by the outpouring of support,” Clinton said, adding that he’s determined to keep doing “the most good I can.”
An aide told the Associated Press that Clinton had a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream but never progressed to septic shock. His fever and white blood cell count have since returned to normal, and he’s expected to return home to New York to complete his antibiotics.
“I’m doing great, enjoying this beautiful fall weather. I’m on the road to recovery,” Clinton said, closing with a message of advice: listen to your body, take care of yourself, and remember that everyone still has an important role to play.
