Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, known from the When Calls the Heart, has sadly passed away at 53. The show, starring Lori Loughlin and Jack Wagner, lost someone who played a small on-screen role but had a big presence behind the scenes.
He appeared as a taxi driver in several episodes, but was “best known as a member of the show’s transportation department,” where he cared for and drove the vintage vehicles used in filming. Nate died at his home in Langley, British Columbia, on April 11.
Martin Cummins, who plays Henry Gowen, shared a heartfelt tribute remembering their time together. He recalled simple moments, saying, “I have spent more hours at work sitting in the blue room, in silence or in conversation with Gord and Nate than I have standing on tape with the camera rolling.”
His words reflected how much Nate meant beyond the camera. He also shared personal memories: “I just came back from a ride on the bike Gord and Nate put together for the girls…” showing Nate’s kindness and hands-on spirit.
In closing, Cummins captured the loss deeply: “Life is constantly changing. Things are never the same. The Valley will not be the same without Nathaniel Pelletier. He was a gentle soul and it was my honor to call him friend.”
