Grandmother Captures Last Photo Of Three-Year-Old Granddaughter Just Minutes Before Tragic Death

A grieving family has shared the last “happy” photo of their three-year-old daughter, Scarlett, who was killed just minutes after the picture was taken during a walk in Oldtown, Idaho. Her mother, Sarah Jensen, said the child’s grandmother, Jamie, took the photo at 4:47 pm, and tragedy struck just five minutes later. Jensen shared on TikTok, “My mom didn’t know she was capturing the last moments of her life.”

Jensen explained that she was attending a wedding while her children, Scarlett and two-year-old Henry, were with their grandmother. “They went to get ice cream and take a walk,” she said. After returning home, Scarlett wanted to pick flowers, and Jamie snapped the final photo in their private driveway. Moments later, a speeding Chevy Tahoe hit them.

According to Jensen, “My mom was waving her hands, trying to protect them, but he was moving too fast.” Scarlett died instantly, while Jamie and Henry suffered severe injuries. Police apprehended the driver, a 23-year-old Newport man, shortly after.

Scarlett’s grandfather, Jim Patton, mourned, “She was so full of life… a piece of my soul is gone.” Henry, recovering from multiple injuries, spent a week in the ICU. Jensen later found the heartbreaking photo, taken “just seconds” before the accident. A GoFundMe has been set up to cover Scarlett’s funeral expenses.
