Famous Game Show Host Passed Away At 83

Chuck Woolery, the original host of *Wheel of Fortune* and a game show legend, has passed away at 83.

Mark Young, Woolery’s friend and podcast co-host, told TMZ that Chuck felt unwell at his Texas home. Moments later, he struggled to breathe, and despite calling emergency services, he passed away before help arrived.

Born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, Woolery began his career in music as part of the pop trio The Avant-Garde, which had a 1968 hit with “Naturally Stoned.” He later pursued a solo country music career before transitioning to television.

In 1975, Woolery became the first host of *Wheel of Fortune*, leaving in 1981 over a salary dispute. He then hosted iconic shows like *Love Connection* (1983–1994), where his humor shined, and *Scrabble* (1984–1990). His career also included hosting *Lingo* (2002–2007) and appearances on other TV programs, solidifying his place as a household name.

Woolery is survived by his wife Kim and four children.
