White mom going viral after birth of Black baby, but husband is white

When a baby is born, it’s always a time of joy and celebration. But for one Tennessee family, their newborn’s arrival sparked a viral sensation and online debate.

Rachel, a cashier at Celina 52 Truck Stop, and her fiancé Paul Buckman welcomed their son, Cash Jamal Buckman, on February 17. The truck stop shared their congratulations on Facebook, posting: “Congratulations to our cashier Rachel and her fiancé Paul Buckman on their baby Cash Jamal Buckman being [born] on Saturday at 6:18pm.”

However, the post quickly drew attention for an unusual reason—while both Rachel and Paul are white, baby Cash appears to be Black. Speculation about Cash’s paternity flooded the comments, with some questioning whether Paul was the father.

Celina 52 Truck Stop later edited their post, explaining: “Rachel has African American DNA in her which can skip generations… Please be kind.” They also mentioned the possibility of jaundice affecting Cash’s appearance.

Determined to address the rumors, Rachel shared her DNA results on Facebook. “For the haters saying I [don’t] have Black DNA… NOW STOP slandering mine and [Paul’s] name. He IS the father,” she wrote.

Despite Rachel’s defense, jokes and skepticism persisted online. TikTokers joined in, while others called for DNA and polygraph tests.

What began as a birth announcement turned into an internet spectacle, leaving everyone guessing and captivated by this unexpected twist.
