What a tragedy! The whole country is mourning the passing.

Ace Patton Ashford, an 18-year-old rodeo champion from Lott, Texas, tragically passed away after a horse-related accident on August 12. While tending to a sick calf, Ashford’s leg became tangled, and a nearby horse dragged him across an open field.

Despite being airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Ashford succumbed to severe head injuries. Known as a hardworking and humble young man, Ace was a skilled roper who competed since age four, recently winning top honors in major competitions.

He graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School and was set to join Hill College’s rodeo team this fall. His community remembers him as an inspiring role model. His girlfriend, Sydney Boatright, mourned him with a heartfelt tribute: “I love you forever, Ace Patton.”
