Mom notices something’s wrong when giving birth – 25 years later her daughter is still mistaken for a child

Before Michelle Kish was born, everything seemed normal. But at birth, doctors noticed her unusual facial features and tiny nose, resembling a bird’s beak. Tests revealed she had Hallermann-Streiff syndrome, a genetic disorder so rare only 250 cases exist worldwide.

Michelle’s mom recalled, “My heart sank. How are we going to care for our child?” Michelle has 26 of the syndrome’s 28 symptoms and relies on an electric wheelchair, respirator, and visual aids. Despite also having dwarfism, her mom says, “Michelle enlightens lives with her joy. She knows she’s different but doesn’t let it break her down.”
