After Trump Signs An Order Ending Automatic Birthright Citizenship, What Will Happen To Barron Trump’s Us Citizenship?

Donald Trump, sworn in as the 47th president on January 20, has signed multiple executive orders, including a controversial one targeting birthright citizenship. The 14th Amendment states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States… are citizens of the United States,” granting citizenship to nearly everyone born on U.S. soil, regardless of parental citizenship.

Trump’s order seeks to deny automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. unless at least one parent is a U.S. citizen or lawful resident. It instructs federal agencies to withhold citizenship documents from such children within 30 days. The order primarily targets children of undocumented immigrants and temporary visa holders.

However, experts believe this move will face significant legal challenges. Birthright citizenship is constitutionally protected, and an executive order cannot override the 14th Amendment.

Barron Trump’s U.S. citizenship remains unaffected as he was born in Manhattan to a lawful permanent resident mother.
