Virgin Australia plans to become the first airline in Australia to allow pets in the cabin during flights. The decision was inspired by a 2021 survey where 85% supported the idea, and 57% said they would fly more often if pets were permitted on board. CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said, “Our love for animals has always been in the Virgin Australia DNA, and we are excited at the prospect of taking off with Australia’s first-ever pets in cabin flights.” The airline aims to launch the service within the next year, following the lead of North American carriers already offering it.
