Jon Batiste will perform the national anthem at Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025. While celebrating this milestone, he remains devoted to his wife, Suleika Jaouad, who is battling cancer for the third time.
Jaouad and Batiste met as teenagers at band camp. “Over the years, I’ve learned more about the creative process from him than from any degree or craft book,” she once shared. They married in 2022, just before her bone marrow transplant. “It was one of those things we did the day before… a very deep time in our lives,” Batiste recalled.
Jaouad, author of *Between Two Kingdoms*, revealed her cancer returned in 2023. Despite the struggles, she finds joy in life: “Even in the hardest moments, there were so many joys… our forever work is to hold the brutal and beautiful in the same palm.” Batiste, now opening the Jon Batiste Jazz Club in the Bahamas, remains by her side. The couple recently celebrated Grammy wins for *American Symphony*. “We’re beaming love from our couch to yours,” Jaouad wrote. Fans eagerly await Batiste’s Super Bowl performance. “CAN’T WAIT to hear it!” one commented.
