Hot mic captures JD Vance’s one criticism before Donald Trump’s address to Congress

Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson shared a lighthearted moment before Donald Trump’s first joint session of Congress. Johnson joked they ‘didn’t wear the same tie,’ to which Vance replied, “We could have coordinated, I guess.”

Vance then leaned in and whispered something to Johnson, not fully picked up by microphones. He followed up by saying, “By the way, I think the speech is going to be great. But I don’t know how you do this for 90 minutes.”

Johnson responded, comparing the situation to President Joe Biden’s past speeches, calling them “a stupid campaign speech.”

Trump’s address lasted an impressive 99 minutes and 32 seconds, becoming the longest in at least 60 years. He surpassed his own 2019 record of 82 minutes and far exceeded Biden’s longest speech of 67 minutes.

One viewer speculated that Vance predicted the speech’s length, guessing he whispered, “This is going to be the longest speech ever.” Despite interruptions and applause, Trump set a new benchmark for lengthy addresses.
