During President Trump’s recent address to Congress, Representative Al Green (D-TX) interrupted by shouting objections about proposed Medicaid cuts. Despite warnings from Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Green persisted and was escorted out by the Sergeant at Arms.
Johnson called Green’s actions “shameful” and confirmed that Republicans plan to introduce a censure resolution, stating such behavior “will not be tolerated.”
The resolution, needing a majority vote, could make Green the fifth House member censured since 2010.
Green showed no regret, saying it was “worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up” to Trump.
