Her Legs Are Am putated After Using a

Lauren Wasser, a Californian model, lost her right leg in 2012 due to toxic shock syndrome (TSS) caused by a tampon. Now, she is warning others about the dangers of this common product.

After experiencing flu-like symptoms, Lauren was hospitalized and diagnosed with TSS, a severe bacterial infection linked to prolonged tampon use. She fell into a coma for over a week, and when she woke up, doctors had amputated her leg. “I was only 24 years old,” she recalled.

Despite knowing she would also lose her other leg, Lauren has dedicated herself to raising awareness. She took legal action against Kotex Natural Balance, believing consumers should know the risks. “The vagina is highly absorbent, directly connected to vital organs,” she warned.

Recently, Lauren had her remaining leg amputated but remains positive. She shared a photo with Paralympic athlete Amy Purdy, symbolizing a new chapter in her life.

Through her advocacy, Lauren hopes to prevent others from suffering as she did. “I don’t want anyone else to go through this,” she said. Her story serves as a powerful reminder for women to be informed about menstrual hygiene risks.
