The Trump administration lifted its suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing for Ukraine, with Kyiv offering a 30-day ceasefire if Moscow agrees.
Ceasefire Proposal
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “Ukraine is ready to stop shooting and start talking,” leaving the decision to Russia. National security adviser Mike Waltz added, “The Ukrainian delegation today made something very clear, that they share President Trump’s vision for peace.”
Talks in Saudi Arabia
Ukrainian and U.S. officials met in Jeddah to discuss ending the war and long-term security guarantees. Ukrainian aide Andriy Yermak emphasized the goal of a “just and lasting peace.”
Ongoing Attacks
Hours before talks, Ukraine launched its largest drone attack, hitting 10 Russian regions. Russia responded with drone and missile strikes.
Kremlin’s Position
Russia demands Ukraine abandon its NATO bid and recognize occupied regions. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called U.S. involvement “normal practice.”
Ukrainian Reactions
Soldier Oleksandr warned, “If there is a ceasefire, it would only give Russia time to increase its firepower.” Psychologist Lena Herasymenko said compromises must be “reasonable.”
