Trump Achieves Record Approval Rating as Poll Shows Widespread Support for His Policies.

Despite a chaotic start marked by “mass firings of government employees, skyrocketing egg prices, a volatile stock market trend, and escalating tariff wars,” Donald Trump’s approval ratings remained stable in his early presidency.

On Wednesday, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum. Canada and Europe retaliated with billions in tariffs. Defending his moves, Trump told Congress his presidency was off to a “swift and unrelenting” start, highlighting his crackdown on immigration, massive government cuts, and elimination of “wokeness and diversity initiatives.”

Trump’s job approval rating in his second term averages 46%, up from 41% in his first. Gallup shows his ratings have ranged from 34% to 49%. A Reuters/Ipsos poll found 44% approved of his presidency after his first month, with his current ratings higher than both his first term and Joe Biden’s.

Support varies by issue. Reuters reports 47% approve of his immigration policy. A CNN poll shows 51% back his immigration stance, while 48% approve of his handling of the federal budget. However, his tariff strategy is less popular—only 39% approve, while 61% disapprove.

Polls are fluid. As of March 4, 2025, Trump’s approval ratings remain a mixed bag amid ongoing tariff wars.
