10 Things to Skip Before Visiting the Gynecologist

The majority of women will probably see a gynecologist occasionally to make sure their health is under control and to help avert any possible problems. Even though women are aware of the importance of this appointment, we still have a tendency to postpone it. “Undressing in front of someone in that situation is uncomfortable for the majority of us.”

Here are some things to avoid when visiting a gynecologist to make your visit a little more enjoyable:

**1. Don’t freak out**
Feeling nervous is normal. “Sitting with your legs spread wide in a gynecological exam chair while someone examines you is, to be honest, one of the most uncomfortable things you can do.” But these exams are crucial for early detection of issues like cervical cancer and STIs. Remember, your doctor sees patients like you every day. “Your health is their top priority.”

**2. Skipping a shower**
While your doctor doesn’t care if you’ve shaved, basic hygiene matters. “Your doctor obviously doesn’t want to examine someone who hasn’t taken care of themselves.”

By focusing on your health, not your appearance, and taking simple steps, you can make your gynecologist visit less stressful.
