Vatican Shares the First Photo of Pope Francis Since His Hospitalization

The Vatican released the first photo of Pope Francis since his hospitalization on February 14, 2025. In the image, the 88-year-old pontiff is seen praying before a modest altar. The Holy See Press Office noted, “It’s the first to be released since the Pope’s hospitalisation [sic].” Despite the serene setting, many questioned his appearance. One netizen wrote, “He doesn’t look alive. It’s a weekend at Bernies [sic] situation.” Others speculated, “That’s not him, this is a clone 🤣.”

His health update on March 17 stated he now requires less high-flow oxygen therapy and continues respiratory treatments. Doctors reported swelling in his hand due to limited mobility but confirmed improvement. The Vatican said, “He has responded particularly well to the physiotherapy sessions.”

Previously, on March 6, Pope Francis addressed the faithful in an audio message, saying, “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers… May God bless you, and the Virgin protect you.”

As he recovers from bilateral pneumonia, the Pope’s days include prayer, rest, and therapy. His condition remains stable but complex. As one observer shared, “Nice to hear His Holiness is recovering… Let’s keep the prayers up!”
