Teen Soccer Player, 19, Dies While Drowning in Stomach Acid During Call with Mom

A community is mourning the loss of 19-year-old Luca Manolache, a promising midfielder for Metaloglobus București. After months of battling an undiagnosed medical condition, Luca’s sudden passing has left his family, teammates, and the Romanian football world in shock and grief.

Luca’s football career showed great promise. He had played professionally in Romania’s Liga II while still a teenager, a testament to his talent and work ethic. His role as a midfielder placed him at the heart of the game. As one teammate recalled, “His love for football and his smile brought happiness on the field.”

His health troubles began in August 2024. According to reports, “He was struggling to get through even the first half of matches.” Symptoms included extreme fatigue, dizziness, chills, and bloody stools. Despite normal test results, doctors suspected an infection and prescribed antibiotics, but his condition worsened.

On February 28, Luca’s health took a fatal turn. During a call with his mother, he said, “Mum, Mum, I can’t do it anymore. Do you think I’m dying?” He later lost consciousness and passed away from internal hemorrhage, a rare and undiagnosed cause.

Metaloglobus shared, “Rest in peace dear ‘Mano.’” Luca’s legacy remains in the hearts of those who knew him.
