Minnesota Dad Uses Moose Antler To Kill 77-year-old Sex Offender Who Was Stalking Daughter

A father from Minnesota admitted to murdering a sex offender whom he believed had previously stalked his young daughter. The father reportedly used a moose antler to “finish off” the victim.Levi Axtell, 27, confessed to killing 77-year-old Lawrence Scully, a convicted sex offender imprisoned in 1979 for molesting a six-year-old girl. Axtell told police he believed Scully was stalking his daughter, saying he often saw him “parked in his vehicle at locations where children were present.”

According to the criminal complaint, Axtell broke into Scully’s home around 4:45 p.m., attacking him with a shovel 15-20 times before using a “sizable moose antler to get the job done.” A neighbor reported hearing screams and seeing a van speed away after smashing a car window. Deputies later found Scully “surrounded by blood” and suffering from “major head trauma.”

In 2018, Axtell filed for a restraining order, claiming Scully had been “stalking and attempting to groom” his daughter. Though a temporary order was granted, a permanent one was denied because “the allegations are not proven true.”Axtell’s family, including his sister Katrina, expressed gratitude for community support. She wrote, “My hope is that both families involved and the Cook County community can come together… and heal together.”
