An active shooter opened fire inside Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital in Michigan, injuring an emergency room patient. The shooter, a 21-year-old man from Shelby Township, “was disarmed by hospital security and held until police arrived.”
Authorities said the shooter was carrying a long gun when he entered the ER. “He fired at least one round, striking the patient,” who remains unidentified. The victim was taken to another area of the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
The shooter was arrested without further incident. Police confirmed, “No one else was injured, and there is no ongoing threat.” A long gun was recovered at the scene.
Beaumont Health issued a statement saying, “We are grateful for the quick actions of our security team and local law enforcement.” They also confirmed the hospital remained open and operational after the incident.The investigation is ongoing. Police are working to determine the shooter’s motive and how he entered the facility with a firearm.
