What began as a routine flight from India to the UK ended in disaster. Brothers Ajaykumar Ramesh, 35, and Viswash Ramesh, 40, boarded Air India’s Ahmedabad-to-Gatwick flight expecting to return home. Ajay sat in seat 11J, while Viswash was across the aisle in 11A, near the emergency exit. Then came the crash.
Only one survived.
Viswash was pulled from the wreckage, dazed and bloodied. “Find Ajay, you must find Ajay,” he kept repeating from his hospital bed. His brother had been just feet away when flames consumed the cabin.
Back in Leicester, the family is in shock. Their youngest brother, Nayankumar, recalled the moment they got the call. “He said his plane had crashed and he couldn’t find anyone. We couldn’t believe it. There was blood running down his face.” Their mother, too devastated to speak, is surrounded by relatives.
