After U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran’s Parliament approved a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz — a critical global oil route — according to state-run Press TV.

Major General Kowsari, a member of the parliament’s National Security Committee, told state media: “There is a consensus in Parliament to close the strait,” but emphasized that the final decision lies with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the country’s top security authority.

The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway linking the Persian Gulf to international oil markets. Its closure could trigger a global energy crisis and sharply raise oil prices.

This move is seen as a direct response to escalating tensions with the U.S. following recent military attacks.

The Supreme Council is expected to review the measure in the coming days, as global powers watch the situation closely.
